The Online PPD Support Group
April 2003 newsletter

A lot of things have been happening since the last newsletter, which was far too long ago.

We've had a couple of fun giveaways, and will be continuing to offer monthly drawings for various items. Congrats to our February winner, jenn, and our March winner, moern. Come to the forums at http://pub30.ezboard.com/bpostpartumdepression and enter to win the April drawing.

There has been an outpouring of generosity from our members and visitors. We have received nearly $200 worth of books from one donor, which will allow us to continue having monthly giveaways for a long time. Several authors have graciously donated signed copies of their books for giveaways, and two lovely jewelry items were contributed on behalf of the Ruth Rhoden Craven Foundation. Special thanks to authors Shoshana Bennett, Pec Indman, Karen Kleiman, Sheila MacDonald and Helena Bradford! As if that were not enough, in the month of February a total of $175 was donated to the Community Chest at ezboard to ensure that our forums continue operations. Finally, others have generously offered money, assistance, and love to my wonderful team and me. I continue to be amazed and grateful for all of these wonderful individuals and organizations.

We are now over 1,000 members strong! It seems that only yesterday I started a little posting board and prettied up a few web pages. As we continue to experience such tremendous growth, it becomes more difficult to keep the website up-to-date and make sure that each and every new member is made to feel welcome. We've also been getting offers for assistance from some of our members who want to help but don't know where or how to be of use. With this in mind, we have created committees to address the areas of need for our online community. To find out more about these committees and/or to volunteer, please read this topic and either reply to the post, or contact the chairperson of the committee in which you are interested.

Plans are underway for the Second Annual Online PPD Support Group Conference. It will be held this summer in the Seattle, Washington area. Details will be shared as soon as they become available.

The seasons are changing, and depending on your location things may start heating up or cooling down. Whatever is going on outside, make sure to take care of your insides! Be sure to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, drink plenty of water, and get daily exercise and adequate sleep. If you haven't done so in a while, start scheduling appointments to get check-ups for healthy teeth, eyes and body. Wear sunscreen to protect your skin from damaging rays. A nice body lotion will keep your skin silky, and can be purchased with aromatherapy in mind, too. Schedule regular dates with yourself to rejuvenate your body and soul. You deserve it!

If you haven't posted lately, you're encouraged to visit and give us an update. Whether you're still struggling or you're doing great, there are people who remember and miss you, so please let us know what's new with YOU.

We're working on a lot of wonderful things for the website. Our suggestion box is always open, so feel free to drop us a line anytime. A new feature in the works is a Memorial Page for those whose lives have been lost due to a Postpartum Mood Disorder. You may view the page here.

I’d planned on only sending this out to the people that had signed up for our newsletter, but with the amazing boost in membership since our last newsletter I reconsidered. I WILL be only sending these newsletters to the people who specifically sign up to receive it, though, so if you want to continue getting these newsletters, please sign up here.

Yours,
Tonya
